A handover ceremony was conducted at the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) auditorium at 14:00 on March 8, 2019 following the appointment of Executive Yuan Counselor Lian Jin-zhang as BSMI’s new director-general on February 26, 2019 by the Executive Yuan. Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) Deputy Minister Tseng Wen-sheng supervised the ceremony, as BSMI is an agency under the MOEA.

The new director-general, who graduated from National Taiwan University’s School of Forestry and Resource Conservation with a doctoral degree, served as section chief, senior specialist, deputy director, director, chief secretary and deputy director-general for the Industrial Development Bureau under the MOEA over the years before being transferred to a post in the Executive Yuan’s Board of Science and Technology Office in 2015.
