Press ReleasesWelcome to Visit the Booth "T-REC and Green Energy, Sustainable Taiwan" at the 2020 Energy Taiwan點閱:3892The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) set up a booth featuring the theme "T-REC and Green Energy, Sustainable Taiwan" at the 2020 Energy Taiwan to showcase its achievements in energy creation, energy storage, integration of energy systems as well as renewable energy certification. The event took place at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center on 14-16 October 2020. Visitors will be presented with a documentary film "Green Energy, Key to Our Future" to understand the different renewable energy projects that the BSMI has been involved in and the technology developed under those projects. The film also includes stories of a number of successful cases to illustrate the application of these technologies. An interactive exhibit on four important aspects of renewable energy (creation, storage, system integration and certification) will help visitors to acquire a general knowledge of the status and development of renewable energy in Taiwan. Visitors may win prizes by participating in the quiz games hosted by our staff. Among the projects, the most challenging one is to develop a certification system for offshore wind farms in Taiwan. The system will provide a reliable feasibility evaluation for wind farm projects to seek support from financial and insurance companies. On the market end, the National Renewable Energy Certification Center (T-REC) was set up in 2017 to process the application for and management of renewable energy certificates. Amendments to the Electricity Act and Renewable Energy Development Act further allow electricity generated by renewable energy to be traded freely on the marketplace. An active market will provide incentives for power plants to produce more renewable energy. During the exhibition period, there is also a side event focusing on renewable energy research and practices. The "2020 International Dissertation Symposium on Energy Technology and Application of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)" will be held on 15 October 2020. Experts and leading business operators will be sharing their expertise and experiences with the participants. The Symposium serves as a platform for exchanges of thoughts and formulation of strategies for expanding the value of RECs. Besides, business enterprises implementing corporate social responsibility will join with the BSMI and the T-REC in advocating greater utilization of renewable energy. It is believed that enterprises would be more committed to fulfilling their social responsibility if the value of RECs gains more recognition. This will further promote sustainable development of the economy and society. All the achievements were accomplished under the concerted efforts of organizations in a wide area of specialties, including the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (TIER), Taiwan Electric Research &Testing Center (TERTEC), Metal Industries Research and Development Center (MIRDC), Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF), CR Classification Society, Automotive Research and Testing Center (ARTC), Telecom Technology Center (TTC), and Taiwan Testing and Certification Center (ETC).We sincerely invite you to enjoy the activities and explore the forest of green energy.
